Solo Record In Sight - ETA Update 10PM

Solo sailor Bruce Arms, in his 14 metre catamaran Big Wave Rider, is now less than 24 hours away from setting a new round Australia record.

Bruce, renowned sailor and two-time winner of the Solo Trans-Tasman yacht race, is in week 5 of his world-record attempt to sail around Australia solo, non-stop, and un-assisted in under 42 days.

At 10 pm on Wednesday, 17 August 2011, he was 98.7 kilometres ESE of Brisbane and 72 hours ahead of the existing record of 42 days 5 hours 33 minutes.

Big Wave Rider is expected to cross the finish line at Mooloolaba between 6.00 am and midday on Thursday, 18 August, 2011. A further update on ETA will be issued at 6.00 am tomorrow morning.
