Solo Record In Sight

Solo sailor Bruce Arms, in his 14 metre catamaran Big Wave Rider, is now only hours away from setting a new round Australia record.
Bruce, renowned sailor and two-time winner of the Solo Trans-Tasman yacht race, is now in week 5 of his world-record attempt to sail around Australia non-stop, solo and un-assisted in under 42 days.
At 9 am on Wednesday,17 August 2011, he was 175 kilometres ENE of Coffs Harbour and 72 hours ahead of the existing record of 42 days 5 hours 33 minutes.
Big Wave Rideris expected to cross the finish line at Mooloolaba during daylight hours on Thursday, 18 August, 2011. Further updates on ETA will be issued at 4.00 PM and 10.00 PM today, and at 6.00 AM tomorrow morning.
