Queensland sailor Bruce Arms, who set a WSSRC world record for an Australian solo circumnavigation in August aboard his 46’ catamaran 'Big Wave Rider', has been joined by his wife Suzanne as the first official entry in the 2012 Three Peaks Race.

Solo Aound Australia Record Broken

Solo sailor Bruce Arms, in his 14 metre catamaran Big Wave Rider, crossed the finish line at Mooloolaba on the 18th August 2011 at 9:41:06 am AEST setting a new round Australia record.

Bruce, renowned sailor and two-time winner of the Solo Trans-Tasman yacht race, completed his solo, non-stop, and un-assisted sail around Australia in 38 days 21 hours 40 minutes and 42 seconds. This made Bruce the fastest solo sailor around Australia and the first to do so in a Multihull (Catamaran).

Bruce, renowned sailor and two-time winner of the Solo Trans-Tasman yacht race, is now in week 5 of his world-record attempt to sail around Australia non-stop, solo and un-assisted in under 42 days.

 At 9 am on Wednesday,17 August 2011, he was 175  kilometres ENE of Coffs Harbour and 72 hours ahead of the existing record of 42 days 5 hours 33 minutes.
